After a series of successful sold-out pandemic popup restaurants, former Executive Pastry Chefs, Jiho Kim, of The Modern, and Kelly Nam, of Electric Lemon, opened their restaurant, Joomak Banjum. Focusing on what Kim calls “Pastry Cuisine”, they were awarded their first Michelin star in 2022. DDOBAR by Joomak NYC (meaning, ‘see you later’ in Korean) at Olly Olly Market is the newest venture from Jiho. He’s brought along Chef de Cuisine Sechul Yang, who honed his skills for years with USHG. Together they are offering a full-service bar menu including BulDak Spicy Chicken Thighs, Korean Beef Short Rib, Blueberry Cured Fluke, and more. DDOBAR also features a to-go menu of a dozen different Yubu Tarts and Korean Inari Pockets, which are customizable. Expect rotating dishes as well as a chef’s counter concept, for both lunch and dinner service, with more refined plates in an casual setting. See you at DDOBAR!
